I am based in Ardingly and producing food is a second career for me. A few years ago I became aware of how much seasonal produce is wasted and left to rot and so I began to make jam from my excess crop of plums in the garden. This became a bit of an obsession and I ended up making a multitude of products to sell in my free-time at week-ends. 4 years ago I gave up my first career and now focus on producing an extensive range of preserves, mustards and chutneys which is available across Sussex and beyond.
I try to produce a wide range of products catering for varied tastes,
using many local ingredients where available, some fruit coming from friends gardens!
If you have a fruit tree in need of harvesting please get in touch.
I have so far obtained 5 Great Taste awards, including a 2-star rating for a Jam in 2013 - which is the highest rated one in the South East for that year.
I also try to use local companies for my other services - including my website management and my design for labels and promotional materials - keeping as much of my spend in the local economy as is feasible.
The sugar I use, it is either British grown or Fairtrade.
All of my products are made at home - I do not have an industrial unit - just a very busy house and kitchen!
The only additional workers involved are family members.
Where feasible, I use local fruit and vegetables - mainly sourced from a Brighton Wholesaler - who I also use for any sourcing of non-local items so that the added value is retained in the local community.
