The greenhouse - ‘Inspiration for the creative gardener
rachel Venia woodgate & The green house team-
Rachael, the greenhouse Manager realised her passion for gardening in her mid 30's seeking a change from a successful career in media, PR and marketing. Within her first year of studying horticulture she achieved an RHS silver medal for garden design at the worlds largest gardening event: Hampton Court Flower Show as well as a Blue Peter badge for contributions to the environment! She has combined her passion for art and photography with that for plants and creative re-use in her pioneering role as the first ever garden social enterprise project manager at an Emmaus community. Last year, in their debut year, her team achieved a triple of exceptional Awards for Most Creative Window Box, Most Resourceful Hanging Basket and most Imaginative Community Garden in Brighton's City In Bloom gardening Awards.
“What brought me to this vocation is its inherent therapeutic nature.
Gardening is good for you on so many levels physically, mentally and emotionally.
We all have space for personal growth and development and the greenhouse project is all about growing together as a community as well as individually.”
